It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

I have very few pictures of the zilla, because, frankly, I was so disappointed with its performance that I rarely used it. And the more I used it, the more I would have been hurting its resale value, since I KNEW that I was going to sell it as soon as my six months were up. I was wow'ed by the glorious massive chunk of INFI at the show, and spent five months regretting tying up nearly a thousand dollars in a knife I didn't like and was unable to sell. The zilla has also convinced me that the large, fat battle mistresses are something I wouldn't be interested in, either. A knife does not have to be obnoxiously thick to perform well.

The regulator, on the other hand, is thick, but ground in an intelligent fashion, full flat with a taper towards the point, that gives it phenomenal balance and makes it incredibly fast and light in the hand for such a thick knife. Dan's Regulator Bowie is everything a thick knife should be, and I LOVE that blade.

Here are a few pictures of the two of them...

I figured the Killa Zilla would be a great chopper by the size and weight of it.

Since putting a sharper edge on it, it's a much better chopper.

The factory edge was absurd, like most Busse knives I've gotten.

However, I've always argued that the best choppers don't necessarily have to be thick and heavy. A $5 18 inch machete will weigh less than any knife in this test, and out chop all of them.

In fact, the thinnest knife in this test was also the best chopper, by a HUGE margin. The LTC kukri is a beast.

this has always been a mystery to me. Im not knocking Bussekin at all (lol we all love them) but why is it that sometimes they just arent sharp??

is that the inspectors fault?

I think it has something to do with the expectation that the knives have to be able to chop concrete blocks without showing any damage <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
