Pendleton is a GREAT blended. I've got a ton of friends who are devout Crown Royal drinkers....once I get them to try Pendleton they flip.

Sportsnut.....awesome looking slabs!

I'm also an ex Crown Royal guy. First time I tried Pendleton I was sold.

I have to say I've got the ribs pretty well dialed in on my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker. About 4 hours @ 225* . I usually use Apple wood for my smoke. I put the dry rub on a couple hours before they go on the smoker and sauce them the last half hour of the smoke. Then pull them off and wrap in heavy tin foil for at least a half hour.

BBQ is NEVER off topic.

I'm planning to move soon, and thinking about building myself a brick smoker at my next place. I like the metal ones, but I'm thinking brick could be fun. I could build a brick oven into it, for pizzas, while I'm at it.

I haven't had glenfiddich in a while. I've been on a speyside kick, but it was highlands that got me hooked on scotch in the first place. I was eying a couple of nice highlands at the liquor store today, but spent WAY too much on the pappy, so didn't have any cash left for scotch.

Back in mid-September, I found myself at Liquor Barn just after they'd received their bi-annual Van Winkle shipment; I bought over a case of 90 Proof 10YO Rip Van Winkle (of which, I've consumed two bottles). I laid it in at $27.39/bottle; at the time, they also had 15 YO for just under $50, 20 YO for about $110, and 23 YO Pappy for right at $220. I've never tried their 15YO+, but I've been quite happy with the 10YO RVW and would heartily recommend giving it a try.

I was told that many consider the 15YO to be the best value and that it sells out quite quickly. However, I find its 107 Proof to be a bit off-putting; I tend to water down even 90 Proof, although the Van Winkle is smooth enough that I will drink it straight up occasionally.

I've been hearing the same thing about the 15, and am looking to try a bottle out. Hard to find, though, as you said.
