Thats the cool thing about Busse knives, he will probably produce several varients of that same knife with different thicknesses, colors and blade lengths. That's what I'm hoping for. At .187 or thinner, I'd be all over it, and even thinner would be better. How about .125??

as soon as they started talking .220 I lost interest. I don't have a DFLE but I do have a battlerat and it was my favorite until I got an NMSFNO. My NMSFNO definitely outchops the battlerat but I'll still admit that anything better than the battlerat isn't really necessary. I think any Busse trinity 8+ and 6.5- pair and a folder would give you an ideal blade for just about anything. My favorites now though are the SS4, S5LE, and NMSFNO.
How hard is that Hossum to sharpen? I have an Extrema Ratio Golem in N690 but I've never used it for anything. Is it a Forester or a custom? The Hossum's are both customs, one in CPM154, the other in S30V, the later is the lightest at 17 oz and the one I use...the other is a backup although I have a colleague who insists I loan it to him if we go to Africa...so it won't stay mint for long. The S30V knife has just been stropped to keep the edge....do this after every use at the end of the day....saves time in the long run using a sander....the blade has a lot of curves...not as bad as a Khukri...but you would need to be careful using the belt sander to get the angle and hand movements right....a leather strop though works well and is safe from causing damage.... Interesting to hear a new arguement from Bruce....last time I was on he was for saying SR101 in the S5 was all you needed in a small knife and spending more for a S5LE was not necessary... I tend to go with that but got the S5LE because it was Satin and I like my small knives to be Satin for food prep work...and I was happy to buy it in Infi...I use it on my PFD for canoeing....the Muddy grip is great when wet and Infi works like a good stainless steel...which my RMD does not. Might sell my back up RMD which is still painted...the S5LE gets nearly all the use when I am not using a Bushcrafter...and between them they do it all. Infact I might sell my stripped RMD as well. Got to love the S5LE IMO...and it will be WAY lighter than the smaller Boss Street which is thicker and has a load of needless steel in the tang....and lets be honest here...you ain't breaking a S5LE unless you set your mind to doing just that.

.187 is already thick, so .220 isn't ideal for me, but I still like the design. if I pick one up, it's getting a satin and convex treatment right away...just depends on the price.

i Like the look of the BOSS but the price?? I think i"ll just stick with my Urban mutt. It's comfortable, Good size, shape and thickness and like Dan says: Superior performance to price ratio.

I personally prefer the Vex over the BOSS Street ![[Linked Image from farm5.static.flickr.com]](http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4042/4201362469_0d59b2559b_b.jpg)

Hello everyone. Im new to this forum. I'm getting a Boss Street in the mail soon, I already ordered it. I have some questions:
1. The blade length is listed as 4.25. Was this measured from the end of the handle, or the cutting edge?
2. I heard that Busse has a "Custom Shop". I want to put Magnum handles on my Boss Street, but I cant seem to find a website for "Custom" ordering a Busse. Any Help?
3. Im planning to use the Boss Street as a user knife for Bushcraft tasks namely. (I figured this would be a good size because the blade is 4.25 and Ray Mears blade is 4, also Bear Grylls is 4.)Any thoughts?
$. Finally, where (If any) is there a decent review of this knife???? I cant find anything on it!!

This version of the Boss Streets has not been delivered to anyone yet. I do not think there are any reviews posted as of yet, besides some calling for thinner blade stock.
For a custom blade there are a few considerations. The blade design is somewhat new and has not been released with options as of yet. There is a good chance that sometime later this year it will be re-released with options as to finish, scales, and coating colors. If you are impatient for this to happen, or you do not think it will, one way to find out information on having yours customized would be to contact Garth over on the Busse sub-forum on Bladeforums. You could also try contacting the shop through the various Busse websites.
Another option might be to just wait for it to arrive before you decide to change the scales. There have been posts stating that the scales that come with the knife are some of the most comfortable to have been released to date.
For a woodscraft knife it might be a bit overly thick at .220". For its size it really does not need to be nearly that thick in order to be all but indestructible. It certainly should stand up to just about anything anyone can dish out especially with normal or even very hard use. The full flat grind is nice and it should be easy to convex. It will likely be very sharp for a user knife and keep a usable edge for an extremely long time. Many people will likely reprofile the edge giving it a shallower angle, backing up the relief. Either way it will not 'need' modification to function well but may benefit it for optimal performance.

I am with you. I almost pulled the trigger on a Boss Street because it looks like a good design but it is simply too thick.
It is not just about being too thick to slice with. It is about it being too heavy for it's size. There are certain knives that are just too heavy for their size. My Rat-5 was a good example. It was just way too heavy. I think it was a full 1/4" thick. I know I could never break it but I could never break a 3/16" knife with a 5" blade either.
A blade less than 5" with a thickness of 1/4" is just nonsense. I won't buy one that thick because I actually use my knives.
By the way the Scrapper 5 is a really nice knife and it is balanced well with a good handle. It needs to be full flat ground because it is a little thick around the edge but it is still a great knife.

Welcome to the Yard, Mr.WTF!
Blade length is measured from tip to handle scale.
