OBE, welcome.

We owned a pure breed Siberian husky for some time. They are [censored] strong dogs and, ours at least, very intelligent. She would wait until she heard the last car leave the driveway before jumping up on our couch (a constant struggle). Sometimes I would forget something and have to come back, the moment I entered the door she would look at me, change her expression to one of guilt, and then slink off of the couch. She also learned to open doors with lever type knobs (instead of round). She was put down at 15 years with horrible arthritus and mostly blind.

The only time I ever hit her is when she was trying to eat our pet rabbit. This was after two other tries to get her to stop attacking it. Even that didn't work and she killed it. She had a cast on her leg and had smashed through the rabbit's cage.

You can take the wolf out of the wild but not the wild out of the wolf. Beautiful dog, I miss her.

IK--

Really have enjoyed your thread. Great pics and good info to know. Especially wanted to thank you for giving me permission to use your pic of Equinox's piercing blue eyes for my avatar--very cool. My first post is in your honor.

Thanks!

Yeah, I had one too and I got an impression that you were talking about mine. He did exactly the same thing with a little difference. Siberian huskies are intelligent. My dog would jump up on the couch when my parents aren't at home but if he heard their car coming up on our driveway, he was getting off the couch. I was at home at all time because I don't see any problem seeing him going up on the couch. I allowed him to go there and he quickly learned to go up only when my parents aren't there. (I was his master, he didn't always listen my parents).

Siberian huskies are hunters, it's in their breed. Don't put any livestock near them or else they will eat them all

They are very affectionate, loving and fun! They rarely bark, they mostly do growling (it's a very gentle growling as if they are very happy to see you or want something, it doesn't sound like as if they want to attack you) or howling. It's beautiful to hear it.

Long ago, I went to the dog obedience training (basic and advanced) and I can say that it helped me so much that I was even able to put a tennis ball between his nose and his eyes for 2 minutes without dropping off (he wasn't moving during that time of course)

Everybody should go to the dog obedience training, it's very interesting and helpful.

I miss him. I'm gonna get another one, it won't be same but I'm sure that I'm gonna have some fun too.
