My six months is up for keeping quiet on the Regulator now it is time to share some thoughts and photos.
The Regulator carried very well in a SpecOps sheath, I was carrying my daughter and about 25lbs of gear along with my .357 it was nice not having even more weight from a knife.
Along the trail I hunted for Fat Wood, the Regulator was great at chopping through stumps and prying away wood. I had no fear about the knife bending from my prying, I even gave it some kicks. No pics of this but it is a beast!
After a nice hike we got to a beautiful lake but it was cold. Time to make a fire. The Regulator worked limbing branches and chopped through smaller limbs easily. I really liked the handle design, it allowed you to move your hand back and have more momentum with your swing. I was the only person in my party who does anything with knives but everyone wanted to cut some trees with the Regulator. One girl was 5ft 105lbs and did a great job chopping.
My nephew thought it was pretty cool
I was amazed how well the edge held up and with a little stropping came back to being very sharp. I don’t know what it was but the edge was way better than my S5CG.
I did a little cabin camping later this summer. There weren’t many small downed limbs around our cabin but I did find some that were 5 – 6 inches across. Did a little chopping which worked but was a lot of work. Now on to batoning, I first went through the wood as I would if chopping and it was much easier then trying to chop. I had a large Baton.
Then on to splitting my god what a way to go, the thick Regulator was like using a splitting maul. Even with not much point sticking out the other side I made short work of the trees. Again everyone in my group was telling me I was going to ruin my knife, but it came out still sharp.

I made a few marshmallow sticks afterword. After a little stropping I went for some fine work carving my walking stick. Although it was not the ideal size for fine work I was able to cut numbers and letters into the wood, along with some other decorations.
No pics of this trip but I went to the In-laws house and needed to make a fire. I went out to the wood pile to gather wood and they had no small stuff. I gathered the big stumps and the hatched and went to work. Like all their blades this on was dull too, so out came the Regulator. I set it on those logs and beat the heck out of it with the hatchet. It made quite a racket but went through it like butter.
As has been stated before, the Regulator is a thick blade done right! It is easy to slice, do fine work, and chop with. The handles are great, the most comfortable yet from SYKCO, and they give you plenty of holding options. While batoning I did do some minor damage to the handle but nothing major. The tip did work great for digging and making holes. But I did have a small part of the tip roll back, not big enough to show in the pictures but big enough to notice.
I love this knife and I can’t wait to see what Dan does with it.
