I have a memory of using a Boy Scout slipjoint knife to make a cardboard fort in the garage. I managed to close the knife on my fingers and was afraid to tell my parents because I didn't want them to take my knife away. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Man that hurt. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Lol yea! I waited like 10 minutes till I told the chaperone dude.

Growing up in Oklahoma, like many places, a little boy had a little folder given to him by someone. I had a grandfather that was a woodcarver, master sharpening person, person who grew up during the Depression. My Papa taught me all kinds of things, but respect for a knife is one I learned early. So many good memories of sittig around and whittling, walking the woods, looking for arrowheads, etc. Later I found out he was quite handy with the steel before WWII and that was how he ended up teaching some knife fighting classes in the service. I have several of his old folders that blades are worn to almost uselessness but they are my Papas. Know what I mean.
