Lets get this started, when I was testing INFI with Jerry and using the first Battle Mistress I almost lobbed off a knuckle on my left hand. It happened during a 2x4 chop test. We mounted a Four foot section of 2x4 in a vertical fixture so that I could chop in a similar fashion to a standing tree. I had just finished chopping 6 or 7 2x4's when I came to the next one and Jerry bet me I could not cut it in half with less the 5 swings. My first swing in a upward fashion went better thank half way through. On the second, downward swing formed the cutting wedge. On the third swing, in an upward motion, the knife passed clean through and caught my leathered gloved hand that was slightly above the cutting angel and moving away. So the Battle Mistress cleaned the 2x4 in half, took a 25 cent diameter hung of leather of the glove and left a rose spot on my hand (where the skin had been removed) right in that web spacing between the thumb and fingers. Man INFI is something else <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Dogs:

What a great Sip & Talk. It was a hoot. I really enjoyed the stories...they meant a lot. I hope I did not say too much with Pappy forcing me to talk. Seems he and I had a bit of a confrontation because Saturday morning was a bit rough. It was a great day for a birfday and I enjoyed Sunday with my eyes looking through my eye lids.

Do I have a volunteer Dog to remind me in about 4 or 5 weeks to hold another Sip & Talk. Its hard for me to forget if I have a Dog hounding me...sorry I could not help it.

Lets pick a Friday or Saturday and have a general theme like we did this time

Let me know if you are interested in helping/hounding me

Thanks again for a great time

Dan

Lets hear your best memory with a knife

You know it is true what they say. I remebered a few bad incidents first when there are countless good ones.

None-the-less, the good far out weighs the bad.

Whittling with my GGrandad when I was maybe 6. I was given that knife and lost it. It fell out of a cheap holster...

Again, when he died I got the knife he carried every bit of 70 years. It was a gift to him and is over a hundred years old I figure. It is an old Remington 3 bladed folder. Perhaps my most cherished knife, as it couldn't be replaced.

There are hundreds of good memories revolving around the cleaning of deer.

I remember getting my first good knives.

Cutting myself with crap knives when the lock failed. Remembering my Dad told me they weren't worth owning and boy was he right.

The list goes on and on.

It is those memories that make up of the fabric of our character and allow us to pass on the guidance of what really matters.

A great story

Thanks for sharing
