I really want to see the specs before passing judgement. I'm sure this is a great blade, I want it in my hand to compare to my TT Reg.

Hey.............it's the SOR -Son of Regulator <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.............or DOR -Daughter of Regulator. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Either way it's different and will ceratinly be a welcome addition to my collection <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I am just thankful for another knife to play with <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. Good job SY.........I am thinking around $100 bucks for this one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />- well within budget for all for sure. Bring em on <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I don't follow SR-101 blades as close as i should, but they all seem to be differentially-hardened. A change in heat-treat leads me to think (hope) that the new blade is SR-77, which is my biggest metallurgical crush. It could mean INFI, which would mean mad $$$. So, take a 1/3" thick Reg and make it out of SR-77 and then go to a SABER GRIND?!? That would be one indestructable freaking chunk of steel. If that's what the new Reg is, i am ALL IN, 100%. Really that is all that would make sense to me. I really hope we didn't lose any thickness - For toughness, saber grind has an advantage, e.g. when prying. I guess the hilt-vulverability will have to be taken care of via the warranty.

I pray the specs for the DOR "Daughter of Regulator" are:

Steel: SR-77, through-hardened
Thickness: 1/3" (.333...)
Grind: Saber, high flat primary grind
Size: Same as TT version or larger
Price: $150 or less

If i guessed even close, i'll be in Dogg heaven <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

Oh yeah. I've got a Reg TT i got on BF, plus a S5CG. And i'm DYING for a Rodent Waki after seeing what they can do on the test videos. Pretty amazing steel. Not to mention i have tremendous respect for Ed Fowler, who seems to believe that the "Excalibur" of steels lies in the direction of 52100... So yeah, i'm very much in awe of the stuff. The only reason i tend to lean toward through-hardened blades is that i have damaged and seen others damage the spines of knives that were left in the 40s hRC...
