it's going to be a winner no matter what, so it's almost a no brainer

Unless the Test Team genuflects on the new Regulator, it may be more of a brainer than you think it is. IMO, the fact that several members of the Team who were selling their TT Regulators suddently yanked them off the market is reason for pause.

I think they were pulled from the Exchange because they weren't selling. People were waiting for Dan's release and didn't want to buy at Exchange prices.

Actually at a certain price point they moved very quickly. I think the original TT was a real bargain no matter what price is on new one. The original is now very limited and for those that did queen a few will do VERY well on secondary. One must remember that most got pounded on- so the queens are extremely limited. If you look at the size of the TT in SR 101 was one hell of a great buy at that pricing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. The new one will be a very welcome addition <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />- but never the same as the original <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />. Just my opinion-Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My spare sold very quickly when I put it up, and at a decent markup too. Even though I made a few bucks, and it was on a knife that I had duplicates of, I now sort of regret doing so.

I gave a lot of praise to the test team version as a "fat knife done right", and the new saber ground Regulator will either be a "fat knife done wrong" (IMHO) or a very nice not-so-fat knife, depending on the specs Dan eventually posts. Fat knives done wrong are a dime a dozen in the knife world, IMHO, and a normal thickness fighter isn't really all that special either.

But a super fat blade with a res-c blade that still slices well and is svelte and fast in the hand? You kidding me? A full flat ground, 1/3 inch, hidden tang SR101 blade with a res-c handle, quick balance, and differential heat treat is about as perfect a knife as you could ask for.

I'm sure the new Regulator will be a fine knife, and I will probably even grab one if the price is right, but the Test Team version is more than just a fine knife... it's a PHENOMENAL knife. Giving it a saber grind is quite likely to take away from its awesomeness.

Let's just hope the new price makes up for that change <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

What if the biggest news is that you get to pick your version of the Regulator-- TT or the new design? I think that would be pretty sweet, since they are almost two different knives in terms of ideal function: TT as the jack-of-all-trades knife (...which is the traditional Bowie function) and the new Reg as the "designated fighter."

That means I would have to get two to add to the TT.

I'm lucky. My dad is a master leather crafter. Used to own a custom leather shop making holsters and all types of custom items. I'm not bad but his work is far, far superior to mine. I will ask him to make the next sheath I need.

That would be so great. I would have almost all leather skin for my knives and guns.

True and in anticipation that it might gain more value after the release of the new Reg.

Either he or I has made nearly all the leather for my holsters and sheaths. He only makes for close friends and family unless it is a project he really wants to work on. Retirement is hard on him he make take on more just to keep from going stir crazy.

It will drive him nuts but I think I'm going to make a couple kydex sheaths just for the heck of it. Never done it before.
