I assumed the 129.00 was a bargain price for the TT Regulator. Kind of a reward for buying it, with no guarantee of handle color, availible quantities, or even that it would be offered again. The fact that the TT members would be offered a good price if the Regulator ever came to fruition was a bonus. I had even wondered if the offer was a way of getting rid of overstock. Now I realize that he wanted TT input. I think that the TT Regulator was underpriced considering the size, etc. Guess we wait and see.

All I know is that if it is thinner than the TT and sabre ground instead, I am out. I already have an SOD or 2.

If it is still 1/3 inch AND sabre ground, I will probably have to get one just because of its indestructibility.

I still think that with this handle, the blade should be about 14 inches long, but that is just me. The grip looks huge.

I imagine the changes included steel availabilty, input from us and cost. I for one thought the knife did not have sod chopping ability.
you never know, maybe other testers suggested a saber grind to add weight or because the pried with it like crazy??
I am sure I am wrong but I think that only the scrap yard team knows what led to the changes.

the sod was 120
I imagine the regulator cost a lot more to manufacture. I am not sure if the stell is more expensive but the full flat grind and differtial heat treat would be more tike consuming and thus cost more. I have also heard the 52100 is much harder to work with. busse has obviously got that down but they may still be using more expensive methods to manufature these blades than sr77.

If the new one came out in SR77 at < $100 I would be pretty excited. At that price I could buy one as a present for my Dad.

if people dont like it, they wont buy it

Despite my complaining about the new design, I have no doubt it will sell very well. I still think the Test Team version is a superior design, and am disappointed in the lack of changes to the guard, but that's not going to stop this from being a hot selling knife.

The TT version is a Porsche and the new version is a Mustang. Both will go faster than you ever need them to, but the Porsche is just a better car

Hopefully we will know soon as the specs to speculate on.........then when it does arrive some o us can do a real life comparison

So I never remember Dan saying the price was lower then the Test Team Regulator, just "new pricing"

Now most have assumed that meant a lower price, but that isn't a sure thing.

No bad vibes, everyone think less money for more

Don't let the picture fool you. Then new version is .75" thick & 11.5" long.
It's all trick photography.

Wow, no kidding, now you're cooking with gas! I'll take as many of those as i can get a loan for, if that's their specs...

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

I just had a thought. I have to admit that the first time I saw the TT Reg I wasn't all that thrilled. Now it's one of my favorites. This production version is beginning to grow on me.
