Ok, so we all know what the TT specs are, and we all know what the new regulator (reglite?) looks like. So, I thought that it might be fun to post what we hope specs of the “reglite” will be given the confines of the info we have, namely, new heat treat, grind, price).
I’ll go first:
Length: 7in max maybe more like 6.5
Thickness: no more than 3/16, maybe even thinner…this looks to be more of a “pure fighter” so might as well make it as blade-light as possible.
Steel: Can't believe I'm saying this but, why not SR 77? Price point will be lower, and for a knife that is more “stabby” than anything else, why not 77?
Ok, your turn, tell me why something I said would be silly, or post what your “dream configuration” would be given the knowledge we have (i.e. no “I hope it will be 1/3 in thick full flat grind differential heat treat” type of thing).

Is price a spec ? Like how about $99.95 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> and I'll go with the above in either 77 or 101 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I will take like 3.......no 4...........OK 5 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Dreaming, got to love it. I have so many specs for the Reg that it could be a small bowie to a short sword in original Bowie style!

Leaving the realm of reality? Sounds good.
I'll have the Regulator with the 18" blade, 4/5 sabre grind, 1/2" thick at the tang to the hilt & tapering to 3/16" towards the tanto grind at the tip of the blade. The width would be tapered too. From 1.6" at the guard to .75" at the tip. I would also like it with the steel guard and 11" Regulator Res-C handle (double pinned of course). All for under $50.00. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

If it has to be a saber grind, I hope it will be as thin as possible. Definitely thinner than the SoD, since the relatively narrow blade plus saber grind would equal a very obtuse grind angle on a thick blade. Since the SoD has a broader blade, the saber gives it a not-too-ridiculous primary grind angle. Put the same thickness on a saber ground regulator, and it's more of a railroad spike than a knife.
So here's hoping for thinner than the SoD <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

well, since you asked....
My dream Bowie would be SR-77, with approx. a 2" wide, 10" long blade, 3/8" thick, (i guess saber grind is a given, though in the "perfect world", i'd choose full convex grind), The same overall profile of the Reg TT, but with a steel guard (like the Battle-Guard) between the handle and the blade to protect the Res-C, Satin/DC finish, a variety of handle colors...
So basically just a Reg TT enlarged about 50% with a metal guard in front of the handle. That's about as perfect a knife as i can imagine...
We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

For Dan. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
You just have to trust your instincts and hope that if someone doesn't like your idea, you can prove them wrong in the final process. In the end, you can please some of the people some of the time, but that's about all you can do. - Bryan Singer
I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is: Try to please everybody. - Herbert Bayard Swope
My people and I have come to an agreement which satisfied us both. They are to say what they please, and I am to do what I please. - Frederick II
