Based on what Dan posted I think the regulator one will do what I need it to do. Probably very well. I am very happy that the spine remains the same thickness. I am hard on knives. This will probably go into the back country and into an active shooter bag at work. I need something to cut through what I cant smash through. I can only carry a limited amount of gear in a limited amount of space. My tools usually pull triple duty and I think this knife will fit the bill.

I'm looking forward to putting this one to the test.

It looks as if I made a mistake in buying into the hype of this site. I had assumed that it was a collection of like-minded indiviuals; guys that respect and admire fine cutlery. The majority of posts on here are sounding like you're a bunch of hillbilly boys that still live at home. If you want to chop down trees, I would suggest that you buy a freaking ax or a chainsaw. That said, I'm still looking forward to the release. Sorry for offending y'all, but it's hard to believe that I'm the only one.

DD, you're not the only one. This will be a fine blade. I don't think anyone here truly dislikes the new regulator. In fact I think its quite the opposite.

Thanks for posting that Mustardman. I too am on a cell phone and haven't had a chance to respond.

First let me say I don't mean to beat this topic to death.

I like Mustardman had damage happen to my TT handle while batoning. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE I BEAT ON THE HANDLE. It happened when hitting the blade and the handle was driven into the wood.

We are not idiots and know you don't pound on a handle with a stick. Most people just cant understand how the handle could be damaged without hitting it directly.

Realize I have batoned with other blade and not had the same damage happen.

So that being said, yes some form of protection would be nice. Is it going to stop me from buying this knife? No.

I love the Regulator and plan on picking a number of these up. This is a great knife and I have many friends who will get these as gifts. I plan on rigging a number of these up with survival bags and putting them in every car I own, and some cars I don't.

This is a hard use knife. And I will use it hard but not abuse it. I know Dan will stand by his warrenty and if the Regulator handle wears out due to normal use I will send it in for Dan to evaluate.

I thank Scrap Yard for putting out great knives and I cant wait to get this one.

Were just people voicing opinions, be it good or bad. These knives are meant for hard use, and as mentioned before, this entire place is built on misuse.

maybe if you shared more of your own opinions you might get more out of the site, instead of being switzerland and just remaining indifferent.

We do admire fine cutlery,it just has to stand up to hard use.Not that pretty stuff with inlayed handles.
If the SHTF and I do mean if,it's best to be prepared. No gas for the chain saw.And carrying an axe is impractial due to weight.Having a knife that can do multiple tasks makes sense. So some chop down trees with theirs to get a sense of what the knife will handle.

Pretty simple guys- you like- you buy- you don't like- then don't buy. I am seeing this knife as a " fighter" and for secondary maybe around camp or survival. In which case I wouldn't care what happened to the ResC. If I were Dan- i wouldn't make a TT edition. Ya just can't please everybody- so just build it- offer and sale . Doubtful he even needs this small market from us.Really difficult to please all for sure-Thanks

Thank you for posting that info Dan, that brings a lot of understanding.

You know, if there were more mention of the fact that military orders take precedance over civilian release dates, then maybe there wouldn't be so many repetitave posts regarding "when?".

Then again I guess there is only so much that any of us can discuss here.

Looks like a good fighter with some chopping ability thrown in for good measure. Which would make it a good knife to have along on hunting trips around here. Since one isn't always gauranteed the top spot on the food chain in these parts.
