I can't blame you for passing on it as that's certainly your prerogative however I have no such plans. I will certainly get one or two, price permitting.

For me, I have no intention of batoning with a bowie style knife -- if I'm going to baton I'd like to use something like a chopper. As many have stated this is a fighter type knife I believe.

Regardless, if my thought is "let's go chop some wood" I'm NOT going to reach for the bowie! I understand the mentality of "I want this knife to do everything I want it to do" but the fact is that certain designs will just not be as good as other designs will be at certain things.

For instance if I need to STAB something, I'm not going to reach for the chopper. If I need to baton, I'm not going to reach for the bowie. Etc.
Seems like a no brainer don't it.
But you never know what situation you might find your self in.

Well wasn't that in direct response to people shouting "I want it to chop better?"

I can't faul the guy for responding in a positive factor to criticism on the test models -- it seems like he mostly addressed the majority concerns. Really though if I want to chop something I'm going to reach for the chopper.

However that being said, like I said I don't fault people for passing on the knife -- it's not like they're offending me or something, it's their money and some knives just don't appeal to some people. That's all.

I also do not disagree with the idea of having a knife that can "do it all" but to me you can get a knife that's AMAZING at 1-2 things, or OKAY at everything. The right tool / weapon is the one for the situation, but that being said I can understand how people would want a knife that could "fit every situation."

Once the final specs are out I will make my mind up.
However right now I am leaning towards buying one, if for no other reason then seeing how the changes affect the knife.
I love my TT regulator so we'll see

I like the way you think. The more I think about it the more I want to compare the two. Might have to get a couple depending on the price just in case.

So do you guys have an idea of how much you'd be willing to pay for a Regulator if you're going to mod it?

not more than $100 to make changes myself, although I still will be sitting it out even if it's $100.
That's right about where I'm at, too. If it's $100 or less, I'll probably pick one up. Otherwise I'll pass. But from the sounds of things, it appears as if Dan is going to be very aggressive on his pricing.

HOLY SHADES OF DUMPSTER MUTTS, BATMAN!

Price is right, the mods are a real possibility for a lot of people. I bet there will be some wicked customs

Not that I remember. I think it was part of Dan's explanation for why he decided to go with a sabre grind instead of keeping the full flat grind.

You'll have to forgive us. Those of us who have been around for awhile expect our Bussekin knives to be AMAZING at everything.

lol, I don't have the pleasure of thinking that way yet. Maybe after I get ahold of a few SY/SR knives I'll be of liker mind, but for now I'm still very set on the "each tool for the job" ideal lol
