I agree with PEasy - cabin fever- a terrible economy and strong personalities .Actually the first time I have seen this on the yard . I am just wodering what color combos will be offered . I like the Black/Tan - but I see where some of you like the green ? Also- an LE would be awesome.

But I'm not sure the change in attitude is necessarily related to the guard. I think it may have more to do with the length of time the Yard has been without new steel.

You're wrong!!! You big jerk! Let's fight about it!!!!!!!111oneoneone

Orange handles and a black blade would guarantee I bought it, regardless of my concerns about the design. I love the visibility of the orange handles on my RC-3, and it serves a very practical purpose in the bush when you set your knife down. (please no one start a ten page long fight about how it's improper to set your knife down, and if you are ever worried about finding your knife you aren't using it right )

Or if there is no orange handle option, Bama clay / tan res-c looks pretty good

I posed this question in the death chat already, but I'll repeat it here - which do y'all think is more likely... That a bunch of regular posters turned into jerks all at once, or that there is a real issue with the G word and peoples refusal to believe it can be damaged under normal use is frustrating for people who have in fact damaged it under normal use.

Yeah, some of the accusations have been nasty, and there is a certain poster who has a history of trashing anyone who enjoys batoning, but really it's the concern about the product that is driving the animosity, not some sudden change to the "feel" of the yard.

Dan has set the bar very high in terms of knife toughness and price to performance ratio. Is it too hard to believe that this knife isn't up o the standard he set, or is it easier to blame the community for being grouchy due to snowy weather?

MM, I've been away for a bit but I have indeed noticed that the tone of the yard has changed. I do not believe the regular poster have become jerks; I do; however, believe that there are some new guys and some old guys here that are vocal to the point of being quite rude.

I know I don't have 1000 posts nor do I always have something to contribute to the board; however, I do respect those that have been here for some time as well as those who have not. I understand you have concerns regarding a particular knife but I will not counterpoint you to death over it nor will I be downright nasty over it.

My point is, one is not required to respond to every post made here and if one chooses to reply, one should have common courtesy...it's that simple. I am of the opinion that if individuals can not conduct themselves with a modicum of respect and decency, they need to find a new home other than this forum. Last night, I chose to use the ignore function for the first time since being a part of this group. The forum here was a welcome relief when compared to other forums on the net and I believe that some here and I'm not talking about you, MM, should temper their "opinions" and be more respectful of Dan's forum and all Dogs here.

Maybe everyone ran out of beer due to economic conditions?
I know in some, if not most parts of the world that would at least lead to rioting in the streets.
We're doing pretty good just having a few spats about knife design.

I guarantee once this thing is released we'll all be back to our usual giddy selves.

the economy isn't THAT bad

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust.

I hear ya. I've been away for a while and have been surprised at some of the posts as of late. Some are from new folks but I've seen some from regulars as well. I've seen more threads locked in the last couple weeks than I've seen locked in my entire time here at the yard. Its probably due to many reasons, but I have noticed some folks are way too sensitive and take things way to personally.
The mods have done a good job in keeping the peace though and maybe things will get back to normal soon.

Is that pic actually the Bama Clay I read so much about? Was it an actual color option?

That is the Bama Clay and that was one sweet knife. Wish it stayed in my hands.

Funny because I wish it stayed in MY hands, Seth

that's the problem with proxying, you get to handle knives long enough to become attached to them and then you have to send them away

To expand on the earlier Bama Clay talk, now that I'm sitting at my desk resting from hauling furniture up two flights of steps....

As far as I know, Bama Clay was never offered as an option on standard production run knives from Scrap Yard. It has been offered on some Busse blades. However, certain SY models have made appearances at various shows in my favorite color... that Yard Keeper I posted was from the Blade West 09 show - Seth proxyed for me, and I was in turn proxying for another dog, so we both got to handle that sweet blade but it wasn't destined for either of us.

I am a fan of Bama Clay in general, though, and wish more blades were offered in the finish. I am down to 3 B.C. blades now
