So newbie here. Scored my first bussekin off of blade forums the other day. My SOD should be here next week. I'm thinking of going kydex for the sheath, although I'm not opposed to leather. I'm looking for somewhat of a modular set up. Something I can wear on my belt, but easly hook to the molle straps on my pack as well. What do you guys recomend? Also, any pics of SOD and their sheaths would be greatly appriciated!

First Welcome to the Yard and The addiction.

You have many sheath options, Scrap Yard sells a great option on the website and it is molle backed for kydex BuyBrown, Rainwalker, or Mashedcat are all great options. Rainwalker does great leather but he is fairly backlogged. Savage Made Leather does nice work. I'm sure Andy will be along soon enough so you can click the link in his sigline. lots of good resources there.

Welcome to the Yard, and congrats on your first score. SOD is one of my favorite.

Something with that type of versatility, I would say go with kydex and talk to the maker and explain what you need. You could probably got with a snap on dangler style leather sheath that will attach on your belt and molle strap with a support tie-down/loop at the bottom. I'm not sure what his turn around time is at the moment, but if you want something special, talk to Jeff (rainwalkercreations.com), he'll do leather or kydex. Chance are he probably has a SOD and won't need you to ship it to him.

A cheap alternative is to track down those condura sheaths, they can attack to the belt via the loop, or attach to molle packs via the strap running down the back. They sell them in 2 sizes here at the store, http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/category.sc?categoryId=5 I remember some saying the 6" version could fit with a small modification.

I am currently having a sheath made for my SOD by Semper Paratus Tactical.

It will have a regular belt loop but also some PALS webbing on the back to be used with MALICE clips to attach to military gear.

Once I receive it I will post pics.

Also note the lashing points at the bottom of the sheath, and if you look carefully, you will see holes in the belt loop, also for lashing. Very versatile for a leather sheath.
