I won't choose the "de" "option" because I like the Regulator handle.

Yeah-I know what ya mean. I came in late in the game but still scored some nice steel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I now own at least one of all the SY steel and surely buy every new release <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I think we are seeing signs of the economy as it has hit most everything out there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. BTW- are you coming to Eugene in April <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />?

The people that were most adamant about needing a modification were the folks that were advocating batoning. Their claim was not that they damaged the grip with the baton (yeah, right), but rather that the knife pivoted downward into the log when struck, damaging the grip. Wouldn't that mean that the modification would be needed on the sharp side of the the blade? Possibly the "batoners" would want it on both sides? I think that it is amazing that Dan would try so hard to accomodate everyone's wishes. Bravo, Dan.

If you can find my review notes on this, I spent a significant amount of time "stabbing" with my TT Regulators. The guard was sufficient.

Also, FWIW, (and no offense to pretty lanyard lovers), I use a simple loop lanyard (or "D-guard" when possible) to PREVENT my hand from sliding onto the blade during "stabbing". I use a lanyard for that purpose and for retention instead of decoration or to pull the knife from its sheath.

I like the Regulator handle. I have tested a TT Regulator to baton wood and had no damage issues, but I have no problems keeping handles from hitting the wood.

I think the removal of the top portion of the guard is a seperate issue. Some people like to place their thumb on the spine of the blade when choking up, I know I do.

And for the record, I would have preferred a steel guard. Not for batoning, but because I felt it just needed one. Sorry for beating a dead horse here. I'm more than excited about the finished product.

And yes, bravo, Dan, for working so hard to make the dogs happy.
