I hope you brought some good stuff to sip and one of your best road trip stories.

Here is one of my favorites.............I was traveling from Dallas to Houston. Wow almost 4 hours of nothing to look at but the lines on the road. Somewhere between I got pulled over for speeding. I was clocked at 68 in a 65...give me a break. When the officer came up to the car he asked for reg and insurance card. I asked what the "HECK" I did...he said stay here I will be right back. When he came back he indicated that my car did not have a front lic plate. Yea I said thats the way it came from the dealer in Dallas. I was made aware that the law said you must have a front lic plate...hard to argue the law. I looked at the warning sitation only to realize that the date was 9/11....da. I smiled at the officer and said thanks for doing a great job. He then asked if I had a Dog father on me...he was fan. We discussed knives for about 10 minutes before he had to go after real bad guys. I tip my hat to all the officers that go out every day and deal with the other part of society we just dont want to know about...BY the way I only had a scrapper 6 in the car

Let me know one of your fav stories

Let the sipping begin

Dan

Hmmm, well, my most recent road trip was in Costa Rica, we were staying in the central valley and everyone wanted to travel to the Pacific side to see the beach. Now, having lived and grown up in Florida my whole life, I have never, ever, drove over mountains, and the entire trip to the beach , was over mountains, and I was elected to drive our little rented Diahatsu over these flipping mountain roads with no guard rails (they apparently don't believe in them in Costa Rica). The locals where flying by me at whatever Kilometers per hour they were traveling at, and I was freakin terrified most of the way to the beach.

Dan - your story really hits home! Right after I pulled out of the Dentist's parking lot and got 1/2 mile down the road I got pulled over. When the officer walked up I asked him "what did I do?" and mentioned that I had just left the dentist's office. He said I was actually doing 47 in a 35 zone, and that caught his attention. When he returned from checking out my license and insurance, he said "well, here's hoping that my giving you a pass (no ticket!) will make you feel a little better". I thanked him, promised to watch my speed better, and drove away. I must have looked like Hell for him to feel so sorry for me!!!

I think the last good road trip I had was this past fall. My old partner and I took the ten hour drive down to Texas to hunt hogs. It was a great trip. Saw alot of interesting things on the trip down. We saw flocks of turkeys, a few bald eagles, Elk, Antelope, Armadillos, Mule Deer, Whitetail, Hogs and the shortest cotton I have ever seen.

It was nice to catch up on old times. We had a blast and managed to get three hogs each. It was really fun walking the creek beds flushing those beasts out and busting through the briars.

The trip back was a bit less leisurely travelling at night through a snow storm.

Got a freezer full of pork and a plan to do it again this year.

Now after the first trip up and over, I took to it, and on the return trip, and the three other trips over the mountains I was flying along like everyone else.

As a side note, my girlfriend is scared of highs and was green most for the way up and over
