Thanks, One Mil. Over-Run Regulator and One Swamp Warden ordered. hey guys whats the difference between black paper and black canvas? Black Canvas has bits of thread (canvas) inbedded in it. It has a nice "grip to it. And it is not black more of a greyish Black Paper is smooth and nice to look at. It is really black.

Paper is a little heavier I think? And more prone to breaking I would imagine. The canvas will be more prone to color change from fluids (like the grease on your skin).
Paper is smoother, canvas is grippier. I prefer canvas.
So, I ordered a HRLM, people seem to really love the RMD.. They seem very similar to me, and the HRLM has about a 4 inch blade as far as I can tell.
Why would you pick one over the other?

I like the micarta, it performs better. Sethrotull is right, the paper is better to look at.

I love the Canvas (tan) handles on my Vex. I think it is perfect for a working knife.
The Black Paper is pretty but not as functional. (If you want a truely Black handle this is your only choice)
I use my knives so I go Canvas all the way.
