hmmm it would be nice if you can proxy a NMFBM for me JIM. I'm not really picky with color so Black, Tan all fine. Basically the cheapest NMFBM setup. oh and your PM box is full .

Yeah, I've been receiving requests from folks asking that I be on the lookout for Wiener Dogs. I suspect that if they had them, they'd have sold to the folks who got declined in the 'ganza. However, if I'm wrong, I'll make sure to pick up some to share.
I'm still waiting for the "Wall O' Knives" picture; hopefully today. A NMFBM you say -- those were a pretty pricey chunk of steel, not $2197 MOAB expensive mind you, but their CG base price was $467, and if they came with G10 handles, it added $85 to the price. I can look, but for one of those it might be best for you to set up payment with the shop in advance; that way all we'll need to work through is shipping/insurance.

You going to do some damage this year Jim? We'll see. The time leading up has been fairly expensive, and I'm having a hard time getting very excited. I don't want to go into details in case I'm wrong, but I recently accepted that a JYD who I trusted has almost certainly stiffed me on a deal -- it's been more than a year and still no knives, so I had to take two of the MOD7's off my spreadsheet. Water under the bridge and I'll get over it, but but I suppose it's hard enough to know who someone really is when you deal with them face-to-face, let alone over the Internet. I'll probably perk up once I'm there, but I'm a bit sad right now -- it could certainly be worse -- I've got a good job and am fairly healthy, so I just need to put it behind me.

sorry to hear that jim but dont let it stop you from being you! there's still a lot of good coming from the yard but gets done via pms. i feel really lucky to have met most of these guys this way. but yuh... i was really down when i couldn't get a black handled muk but i realize i didnt ask on the yard. i have no doubt somebody would've at least spoke to me about it here. i didn't even want to bother for a proxy after that though. now im in better spirits and hoping for a proxy and fresh muk before it's said and done.
i guess id be kinda salty about a mod7 though... but i'm a recurve fan so that would factor into it a little bit.

Jim - if someone here in the Yard stiffed you then you should make it publicly known! It might prevent someone else going through the same anguish. I am really sorry to hear of this, as I have said MANY times that I have NEVER had a problem with anyone here in the Yard. I have proxied for fellow Dogs, and a couple of Dogs have proxied for me - never a problem. I want this place to be something special, and the folks to be trustworthy. Tom

He's no longer active here (he hasn't posted outside of a Death Chat since last September, and the Death Chat posts were all on one early AM in December). Unless he returns without making things right, I don't think calling him out by name would help anyone, and I have hope [stupid, I know, after 14 months] that he might still make good. Not to be overly cryptic, but JerseyBob posted about having a problems with the same person a while back, so it's not as if nothing's been said.

Jim - if you are talking about Jason, then I am surprised and highly disappointed in him! I would certainly have expected better! Was anyone ever to actually talk with him, or whomever it was?

No, it's not Jason; I suppose that I may as well say that it's Jimmie Tolleson.
There's been back-and-forth communication, assurances followed by long periods of silence -- the deal turned into months of daily anger/frustration whenever I checked the mail. I thought that I knew him and could trust him, and I made a lot of allowances because of what he said his job is, but after a long enough time, everything came into doubt. I'm not the only person to have had trouble with him, although I really don't want to drag anyone else into my issue.
In a round-about sort of way, I wanted to explain a big part of why I've turned down several folks who contacted me about deals over the past several months; I'm planning to proxy for some (I suppose that buying something without intending to keep it it feels different than dipping into my collection -- it doesn't have to be logical; it just is what it is) but I haven't been interested in buying, selling, or trading knives with individuals for quite a while.

Jim, I also am sorry to hear of your bad experience. I have been contacted by other dogs to make sheaths for me and one even sent me the knife before I had "the check in the mail"! I just hope and pray (so far they have all been and everyone else says the same) everyone here remains trustworthy and continues to make this THE place to share thoughts and ideas, heartbreaks and sorrows and happiness. Oh and of course anything related to the Best Blades available!
Randy
