I was wondering if anyone went for a RatChute Mandu? So how is it different than the regular RMD. The only difference I could see was that the top edge was sharpened. Is that it? Anyone think the differences are worth the extra $30 over a normal RMD?

It was a good looking blade and I had it as my #2 if I couldn't get the WD. As good as it looks it just looked like more chances for me to screw around and cut myself. I'll stick with the standard ratmandus that I have on order.

I didn't go for one. I think it looks cool and it might be beneficial in a knife fight. However, having the whole spine sharpened costs you the capability to baton, and makes asserting that it's a tool (as opposed to a weapon) a harder sell.
That's my opinion; the folks who ordered them will probably feel differently, and my opinion is certainly no more valid than theirs. I own a custom shop RMD with a sharpened swedge, and I like it a lot, but if you're only going to have one, I think you're better off with the standard RMD. I will admit that the RatChute is less common , which tends to increase its value as a collectible.

I went for one. I have no use for one and could just grind one from an RMD but I figured while I was going for a satin AK why not?

I didn't do this ganzaa, but that RatChuteMandu does appeal to me. Practical? Uh, yeah. At least compared to my stiletto. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It won't be your only RMD though; I recall that you're a big fan of the standard RMD. As such, variants are desirable and I know that the RatChute calls to you; I'm sure you'll really enjoy owning it. $30 is a small price compared to the amount of work to shape one like it with non-power tools (probably even less than you'd spend on belts if you used a sander), plus your coating will still be pristine.

The Regulator, at least TT, would make a great hog knife. Well at least for fighting one off!
