I really like this one. My only beef with the original DM was the small handle. It was just a bit too small.
Nice score!

I decided to dig out my uber-rare Fall 2008 Knob Creek haul of Mutts and Keepers for a picture. Mutts were priced higher at that show ($89.95), but I've never seen Arctic White or Bama Clay Scrap Yard knives since and the only other Moss was a couple S6s at the Fall 09 show. Tanker was new at the time, but has continued to be produced: All gathered together like that, I'm not sure they look like $1283.25, but that's what I paid. Wow , thanks for the pics Jim, i didn't realize there were so many variations! regards,SSB.

Awesome variants Jim...thanks for taking the time to get those out and show all of us I'm holding out hope for the Knoboganzaa

It's interesting...the new ones posted by Seth definitely look sabre ground, similar to the original DMCG. However the variants posted by Jim all look to be flat ground, similar to the LE / DC models. I fondled my heavy DMCG last night for quite some time. I love the blade, the heft, and the versatility of it. For me, it has two choke up points: I can wrap my index finger in the choil to get a little closer...and for the real close up work, my middle finger goes in the choil and index straddles the spine. Here's to hoping I get a desert model soon

i posted this in another thread, but do you guys think a used S5 CG for a used Dumpter Mutt would be a fair trade? thinking about trading my S5 for one.

From a monetary perspective, no. S5 has more followers, and is an updated design.
From a biased puppy that loves the mutt, yes My Mutt gets carried in the woods, the S5 stays home.

tonestar - sell your S5 and buy a DM.
My Urban Mutt should arrive today, and will be the only DM variant I've ever held. I'm curious to see if I like it better than my YKLE (as in - is the extra .5" of blade a good or bad thing).
Either way, I've long said I'd love for another 4.5" to 5" YK or DM variant (or re-release). We all love the big choppers, but I use 5"ish knives for 90% of my needs.

As Ishi said, the S5 tends to be worth a bit more monetarily (see my reply in the other post).

So, can someone give me which variation I have? One person has said it's a "Combat Grade Variant" and a saber grind. Is this correct? Will this make a difference in making a sheath for it?
Thanks,
Al

Yours has a sabre grind, like the original. All others had a full flat grind. The original was .285 inches thick. Not sure what thickness yours is. Best to just send it to one of our many fine sheath makers. There are several that are members of this forum.
