Got my Dereg in the mail yesterday too. I am really liking the modification. Changes the whole balance of the blade.

That IS dull! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

I took a mouse pad and some 400, 600 and 800 grit to it and it is coming to life real quick!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

It was dull in comparison to the DDF I just got, Which POPS the hair right off my arm!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I was playing around with the Dereg last night and man it just feels good to hold!!!

I sat in silence with my DDF, DeReg and S5 as we daydreamed about the wood were going to chop next weekend at Cherry Lake!!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/loopy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/loopy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/loopy.gif" alt="" />

If I can put my guns down long enough

My Deregulators came in today. I wondered about the "numbered" knives and how they'd track who received what. I bought five Deregulators + sheaths, three of which were military discounted and two were not. My three numbers are 4671A, 4671B, and 4671C -- is that how it worked for other people who ordered multiples? Did people who ordered only one military discounted Regulator/Deregulator just get a 4-digit number, or was the knife ID pattern number+letter for everyone?

Jim the number corresponds to your invoice. I ordered two Regulators and one DeRegulator. My Regs were 4575A, 4575B and my DeReg 4575A I thought I would get an A,B,C. So my guess is if you only ordered one at discounted price it would be a 4-digit number(A) xxxxA.

Renee did say some knives that did not receive the discount got a number by mistake. But the ones that were not discounted were not supposed to get numbers.

On this order I got two knives, a Reg and Dereg. Both knives have the same invoice number followed by the letter A. I have another Reg that should be here soon and I will post on how it is marked when it arrives.

I got one Dereg number 4761A.

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

The ID pattern is exactly as Sethrotull described. I'm a bit surprised that a Regulator and a Deregulator can have the same number, although I suppose they're considered different knives.

I'm glad that I went with the Deregulator version -- I don't think my thumb would like that upper ramp unless I held the knife like a hammer. Also, while it's a matter of personal preference, I like the S6 through Dog Father's handles better, although I imagine folks with larger hands may prefer this one. Even so, I don't dislike the grips -- they just don't feel quite as natural as the others (to me). Finally, as thick as the blade is, I expected it to feel like a monster; it's not nearly as blade-heavy as I expected, and is actually quite nimble (probably due to how much the Bowie-style blade width narrows toward the tip). Overall, this release was a heck of a knife and an outstanding deal; Great job!!

Jim, I agree about the value of this knife. I love the handle and would like to see more releases with it as an option.
