If you are experienced with firearms you really don't need it.
One trick some examiners will do is give you a 22 rimfire cartridge that is in a loose pile. They will ask you what it is, if you say 22 rimfire they will mark you wrong, because there are no identifying marks on the case. The proper answer is you don't know because you can't see any identifying marks on it
