I don't have a good pair of hikers right now so I've been wearing my steel toes. They are exceptionally comfortable though. When I was working 10 hr shifts my feet didn't bother me a bit. I find them great for my day hikes (as long as they stay dry). They offer valuable ankle support on uneven terrain.

There you go!

There is a series of small hills behind my home that I use as a testing grounds of sorts for all kinds of gear.

Go on a couple hikes and try each of them out and see what you'd prefer.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Yeah, I really wish that I had had the opportunity to have been in boy scouts when I was younger! But I guess now is as good a time as any to catch up!

I kinda want to wait till my Reg and Dereg show up before I go on a hike, but I don't know when I will get them. I can't wait. I have to keep reminding myself "patience, Patience, Patience" LOL

Main reason...It is my first good knife. I've got a Kershaw folder that I carry on me at all times but I don't have a good fixed blade knife. Plus, I am still putting my day-pack together! I like to be prepared. Know what I mean?

For sure. The gear is half the fun, I'm just saying don't miss out on the other half! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Always good to be prepared.
I'm sure that I carry to much for a day hike BUT what if.......
I say "Well, what if I'm ready/prepared!" Better safe than sorry.

True! My buddies have always given me a hard time cuz I always have random stuff in my truck. But, it almost always all comes in handy and gets used! I'm trying to get some of my buddies hooked so I have someone to enjoy Bussekin knives with, but they all laugh at me. Maybe that will change when I get my Reg and Dereg. One can hope...

It will. Once they see a knife like they've never seen before they'll convert.

Even my wife is impressed by the sheer awesomeness of Bussekin!
