Not to bad, we bought elements 8 and Patty installed it on her computer. She says she isn't sure if she will ever learn to use it. With a Mothers day present from her son we were able to get it for $50.00.

COOL! We had to buy Patty one as well, her old one went J4 (dead) when the McAfee thing hit. WE HOPE that's what happened to it and all 47 Gig of her pictures can be recovered. She has thousands on CD and many many more still on the Memory cards but still lost several thousand. her new one is an HP desktop with 1Terabyte HD and 6 gig memory. It's pretty fast.

She doesn't need to learn all of photoshop ELements. Learn what she finds useful and interesting, and ignore the rest. That's what everyone does.

Yeah she will eventually get around to it. What she mainly will do is sharpen, Contrast, straighten(level) do the red eye thing. Just the normal(?) simple stuff. I'm sure she will play around with the other functions in time. But it is such a jump from Picasa 3 that she is sorta frustrated right now.

HP is right near me, by the way. Practically across the street from my place.

Backup! YUP. gonna get a 1 terabyte flash drive. We found them on sale for I think $120 or $140 locally.

Figuring out what she wants to do and how she wants to get it done, in post-processing doesn't have to be frustration. It can be enjoyable to play around, experiment, and see how things work and how they behave. It can be meditative to clearly envision in her head what she wants to do, with a picture. It cna be a fun and challenging puzzle to figure out how to get her picture from where it is now, to where she wants it to be.
