My new computer is awesome, by the way. I'm very pleased, so far.

Yeah she likes playing around with them. She would take a picture and play with the sepa(?) tones and change it into all sort of weird colors and things. It's just that elements is so far above picasa that she is suffering from "I know how it works" to "What the h..l".

Actually we paid $499.00 for it and I THINK it's a 6310. We're satisified with the price we paid so that's what counts. And the store where we bought it is only about 30 minutes away and they have good customer service.

Your computer requirements are quite different from our needs. Your livelyhood depends on yours. Ours is just for fun. Oh by the way, have you heard any more about getting your old one fixed and back to you?

Oh and since our lexmark printer is sorta on the fritz, we also got her one of those Kodak printer/scanner/copier all in one. We are hopeing that it DOES provide for cheaper ink prices and the cartridges last for a reasonable amount of time/copies.

I was able to successfully demand a free repair of my old one. I have it back, fully repaired. I'll be selling it within a few days, now that I have my new one.

For me, it's still easier and less expensive, with better results, to just pay a photo-finisher to make my prints, rather than print them, myself.

I had read where you posted that they HAD to repair it for you. Good deal and I'm glad you got it back already.

Yes, they were fast! They were much faster to repair my old one than to make and deliver my new one.

I don't figure we will print to many pictures, we were just looking for an avenue for cheaper ink (tried the refurbished carts and didn't work). AND she has a lot of OLD pics from her childhood and that of her parents and grandparents she would like to preserve. This way she can scan them onto the comuputer. For REAL prints, she uses Walmart photo. The one about half an hour away does a good job for the price and meets our requirements quite well. Oh she did indicate she would like to have some of your pics, but sorry, we're cheap! To her(and me too) your pictures are like Lays potato chips, You can't stop with just one! Your pictures ARE worth what you charge though and maybe someday she will find one "she just can't live without" and we'll take the plunge.
