I've had a lot of computers in my life, and this is my 5th laptop. I think this one is the biggest jump from the previous one that I've ever experienced. This computer is really impressing me, so far.

That sounds delightful. I'll give that try.

I've had 2 laptops. The first one was just a 286 and only had 10 MEG hard drive! Bought it used from a guy back in 1992 and cost me $50.00. I THINK it had 512K memory. Boy it was a screamer I'll tell ya! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

We use mayonaise, not miracle whip. The taste is VASTLY different. But use which ever one you like best I guess.

Hehe ... I can share some stories about oldies, too. My family has had computers all my life.

When I was a kid, my dad had computers that took punch card, and computers that took rolls of paper, as their only source of input. And they had no screens! We had a modem the size of a small refrigerator, and you had to take the phone receiver/speaker, and lay it on the modem's cradle – no electronic connection. Also, I remember, as a kid, the computer magazines printed out entire programs for you to type into the computer, yourself. It was so exciting when we got out first computer that could take a cassette tape! And then , there came the 16K floppy disks.

Yup, things have changed.

And, since this is a knife forum: I'm cutting my cheese with a Spyderco Catcherman.

I was going to sell this knife, a couple weeks ago. But when I took it out of the storage box and checked the condition, I remembered how much I liked it, and kept it.

never had any dealings with punch card computers, But when I first got started (trash 80) as in trs 80 from radio shack(?) it belonged to a friend that used it to keep track of all his movies (he had well over 1000). MY first computer was a Franklin (apple clone) that used the 5 1/4 floppies and then an apple 3C and you had to turn over the boot up disk to get it to run. Then came 3.5 floppies and HO BOY! talk about holding a lot of data... Oh and I did the Bulletin Board thing with the phone cradle as well. Thank goodness things have changed!

Don't think I know that one, have to look it up. Funny you should change to knives, I just got done blowing out my EDC emerson cqc7 spearpoint with some canned air. It was dirtier than I like to let my knives get, but oh well. Oh I also blew out my edc Mini-grip as well. TWO edc knives you say. Yup one for the sheeple and one for..well you know where I work. HOPE IT NEVER COMES TO THAT! But I like the security it gives me (at least in my mind).
