It never stops hurting MB. I've a few Battle Buddies that havent come back. No doubt I'll have more. Its a strange feeling to sit down and get ready to play some Halo, and realize there is an unclaimed controller, that you'll never be able to see that person again. Its a very Empty feeling. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
I was a soldier long ago Fuego. But I have been doing this a long time. I lost my first close friend in the line of duty in 1995. And several more recently. For me war was easier to understand. Killing the enemy was our objective. They had the same objective. It came down to planning, luck and skill.
Those that have been lost in my current line of work were murdered. Plain and simple because of the uniform and the shield. No rhyme nor reason other than a criminal wanted to.
I lost friends in combat and it wasn't easy. But It has nearly always been said in most wars. The only thing the other guy did was work for the wrong side. In another time we probably would have had a beer together.
Not the case here. It just strangely different. Really hard to explain.
