Wow, do you get out to do much hunting with them? I recall a rabbit picture in the other thread. What range can you reach out to?

Through an accident of pure luck I bought a Fred Bear recurve many years ago. It has a low draw weight (35 lbs?) but it is a lot of fun to shoot. I should go string that bad boy up. I wonder if the neighbor would mind me using his barn as a backstop

Hehe, I have a Black Bear compound. I think it is a 65 or 70 pounder... Rated for Elk!

I setup a backstop in my basement last year. Was a hoot and no new holes in the walls (Victory!). I think I'll try and bring it out more this year.

I go rabbit hunting out in the desert at least once every two weeks. I've deer hunted a few seasons but haven't had any luck as of yet. But I've taken dozens of rabbits, some squirrels, and a few birds here and there.

What range huh....well it depends on the day. Generally I'm pretty accurate at 15 yards, fairly accurate at 20 yards and not so much at 30 but I get lucky out that far every once in awhile.

For instance last night I took my daughter out hiking and had a nice cottontail at about 30-35 yards. I drew back and nailed that sucker right in the vitals, he didn't even think about going anywhere. That was a pretty lucky shot for me though, about a 1 in 10.

Cool. I should go after some jack rabbits up here. The dang things are real skittish though. Hard pressed to get any closer than 20 or 25 yards. Some times 75 yards is asking too much though!

Kraz, thats a good bow. Its what we call a target bow, mostly used for target shooting and plinking around. Not much of a hunting bow for any big game but a perfect rabbit bow.

Those compounds are a lot of fun. You can pick a mite off a fly's butt with the sights on those things sometimes. Thats a good hunting weight, you're probably getting about 350 fps with that sucker.

I would think 75 yards can be a lot of fun with a compound bow thats on. Don't worry about always trying to hit em, just get as close as you can and watch those suckers freak out, its the best!!!

I'll bring out the chrony this summer and find out for sure what it is hitting. Nothing much for sites on it , just the multi post holdoff one.

I've also found that if you hunt Jack right around dusk their sight isn't so good and you can sneak up on em pretty close.

I went and dug the bow out of the closet and it is indeed a Black Bear as well. TBB I bought it specifically for target shooting though I didn't know it was a "target bow". I think I may try it on a few squirrels this fall, just for chuckles.
