Buffalo, that would be a lot of work but a lot of meat. I have always wanted to hunt buffalo but I want it to be free ranging and not a fenced hunt. Growing up my dad had a buffalo skull that came off what is now reservation land but the ole in the head was larger than a .45 cal more like a .50 cal. The skull was larger than most mature buffalo now but the biologist said it was of a young bull. Pops ended up giving it away, ah well, that is the way it goes I guess.

Jeff, In the picture on the link, I have the L shaped holster. Just wasn't made for the HS.

Skunk, a custom maker would be the best route for what you are wanting. There are a lot of makers that can do what you want, and get the grip/handle the way you want.

That holster that K posted would be a great holster, and for a leather holster the price seems reasonable.

I put an Aimpoint on my 45-70 Marlin yesterday but decided I really did not care for a red dot on the lever gun. I am tinking that a 2-7x would cover what I need and want on a large bore lever. 2x is still quick and a wide view but x can make better for spotting.

K, I just checked out you KZ link. Now THAT'S ONE KUK I wouldn't mind having, IF I could afford it! (but my cheapie CS Mag Kuk Machate works for the easy stuff like grasses and weeds). Oh and My CGDF works for everything else. And of course the mil reg and S5 and Weiner comes in handy at times as well.

Speaking of buffalo. During the hey day of buffalo hunting it is estimated that 8,000 buffalo a day were taken. That is unbelievable to understand in reality.

Jeff. how about a peep sight? The 45-70 is a sorta short range round yes?

Jeff, I looked for a price in the thread and NOPE, no price, just a TEASER "blade show special price".

I have a set of XS sights on it now. The rifle is the SBL version which has the XS sight system and rail. I might give the red dot another chance especially for hogging.
A guide gun is not much for long range, but a Sharps can be used for some real long shots.
