Yep, though not as much as I used to. I shoot sports for a local paper and work weddings during the summer season with a friend of mine. Don't shoot for myself like I used to. Once I was doing it for a living, photography stopped being fun and I'm just getting that back.

I don't want to sound negative, but – did you ask other fine art photographers what they think about going to college to get a degree in fine art photography, in order to become a professional fine art photographer?

No, I've always loved photography. I got laid off from a machinist job and got to go back to school at the age of 36. Photography has been good to me, and I've enjoyed it a great deal, but I decided that I couldn't do it for a living and enjoy it. The best decision I ever made (jobwise) was leaving the newspaper for this job. Now I can take photos when I want, and of what I want, and slowly but surely the creative juices are starting to flow again.

I took about a year off and didn't pick up a camera. Then my wife and I went to Charleston SC for a weekend, and I started seeing things again.

Your wife shoots, too?

No, she doesn't have the patience for it. It kills her for me to pull out the tripod because she knows we'll be there for a while. LOL

She does post my shots on her Facebook, so people think that she took them. But what can I do? She is my wife, after all.
