Ok, tring not to sound like an idiot, but how the heck do you guys order these knives? I have been on the website since December and have not been able to order. No phone number to call or physical address to send a check to. I have emailed to no avail! How do you do it? I need one (or more)!

Welcome!
Obtaining a knife means sacraficing your first born and swearing your allegiance to the PAGAN (People Against Goodness And Normalicy) brotherhood.
In all actuality you need to check the message boards almost daily. Dan usually announces a new model several weeks before they're released. Then he'll post a 48 and a 24 hour count down, similar to Busse knives. Then once the go signal is given it's a credit card frenzy; when the knives do go on sale it becomes a dog eat dog world with all of us wearing Alpo underware.
Typically, the limited runs of knives go the fastest. I believe the Street Scrapper 4 lasted only a few hours, and the Dumpster Mutt laster about 10 minutes. The standard production items such as the Scrapper 6 and Dogfather last longer as they will be made again so the demand isn't as high. When the dogfather went on sale it laster about 3 1/2 days.

Welcome to The Yard, jmosh.
Scrap Yard Knife Works does not take orders. The way you purchase is you wait until Dan releases a knife. Then you buy one or more before they sell out. How long it takes for a Scrap Yard knife to sell out depends on how many knives Dan makes. The shortest sell out time so far is about 5 minutes for the Street Scrapper 4 - INFI and the longest is 3-1/2 days for the Dog Father. The initial sale of the scrapper 6 and Scrapper 6 LE was longer. But that's probably because the company was just getting off the ground.

No phone number to call or physical address to send a check to. I have emailed to no avail! How do you do it? I need one (or more)! We do place the knives on the web site for order. The issue you have run into is the popularity of the knives, they do not last for more than a few days and recently a few hours. I do post a notice on this forum 48 and 24 hours prior to there availability on the ScrapYard web site. All business is conducted through the web. Welcome to the Yard Dumpster Dan

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll keep an eye on the forum. I thought something was wrong with the ordering site, but in reality it is always "out of stock" (almost). Looks like I'll wait until the next run. These knives (and the philosophy) really attracted me, form follows function!

Welcome to the yard, jmosh. I thought it better that some of the more successful dogs answer your question. Glad they did. Even Dan the man answered. I just missed the Dog Father sale, caught a special limited forum release of the Scrapper 6, and just got a Dumpster Mutt in the "normal" way of ordering from the website. I had the exact same question. It is really different with these limited production knives, but they are worth the wait. Hang out with us. It can be a blast!

Well, I do feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one having "ordering" trouble. I will feel all better when I get one! Thanks for the friendly welcome guys. The basic nature of these knives just really appeals to me, much more so than a lot of the stylized stuff that is out there now. The steel used, Dan's appraoch to the knives. I feel like alot of the other "tactical" knives had way too much thought given to their looks and not enough to how the thing could actually be useful. To me there is a lot to be said for the "get it done" looks, all business, like a loaded .45.

Scrap Yard knives are the "sleepers" of the knife word. Like an old 5 liter mustang that has a bored and stroked v8 with blower hidden under the hook and a 175 wet shot for backup with a rusted out body full of bondo and a patch of duct tape on it. Doesn't really get a second looks until you see what it is capable of. Then everyone else realises that their "trophy knives" aren't worthy of picking up the wood chips the DF leaves behind!
