Perhaps, but I still think they're the most durable and most comfortable handles around.

I agree whole heartedly. They are very comfy and durable. No doubt. They are my favorite handle by far.

They did make a two handed res c grip and tested it out. They found that due to the length the handle had a tendency to twist on the tang. Too bad, but I guess it is a risk when using a softer material like that.

The wrap provides a nice beefy grip!

That makes sense, but, again, it's a matter of design. The tang could be designed in a manner where that was not an issue.

I suspect it would have been so wide that it would render the grip unusable.

The grips are not molded in place, so it isn't possible to just add holes to the tang to allow the rubber to flow through.
