Perhaps if the cross section were cross/+ shaped or Y shaped (i.e., with several flanges).

Yup, with the steel options and normal manufacturing processes that we see on the knives from any of the 3 companies it wouldn't have worked.
Have to appreciate that they at least tried though. I know Dan wouldn't release a blade until he is totally happy with all aspects of it.

So far, he's doing a fine job of bringing out knives that please me.
My biggest complaint – and it's a minor one – is that I dislike the snarling dog logo, and wish I could get whatever blade I order sterile.

How about having several flaring tubes? If they're spaced out like the fasteners on the AK, that should hold well. Or even if there were only three of four.
