So I built a kit around my Regulator and a Maxpedition water bottle holder. Added an extra pouch by molle for a fak. with water the whole thing weighs close to 7lbs but wears well on my right leg. with this little knowledge do you think that is to heavy?

considering the "wears well" i'm going to say no. we all know how a heavy knife can feel light and balanced in hand by good design, so if you manage to make that work, stick with it.

i'd put a strap on that and wear it on the shoulder, though. that's why i have the jumbo versipack.

Like Mag said, if it carries well then no big deal. How extensive is theFAK/PSK?

shoudlnt be too far from people, but enough woods where its really like being in the middle of nowhere.

gonna take a whack at building my own shelter...

if im not happy or dont feel secure enough ill just sleep inside :]
its gonna be fun

sounds like a pretty good kit, seth. my first aid used to be more complete, but lately it's just tylenol, claritin, neosporit, pepto, and some bandages.

I can say snow blows and I have never done life and death by myself but I can navigate and shelter. Alway practicing to make things harder and harder. I do need to bow drill in the wild.
