actually my girlfriend got me the stropping belt with compound for christmas, i havent dinged any blades, so ive just maintaining them with just that for a while already

Subject change, but. Just got a TTY from the NWS. They are saying that for here, we will have a heat index of 95-105 by 10AM! AND VERY high humidity!

The strop is an excellent piece of kit. I snagged the 1x30" strop belt. Amazing for putting that final killer edge on the big choppers. I can see my ugly mug in the edge when I am done. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I don't try and get a "razor edge" on my knives any more. I have found that for MOST the time my knife usage does not require an edge like that and that at least for my it is usually more fragile.
