Evening guys.
I had a good afternoon at the range with my brother. We took his newly acquired Glock 22 and my newly acquired Glock 23, he had his Ruger revolver, his newly acquired 700 Remington, and my newly acquired SAI SOCOM.
First my brothers stuff:
G22 is an accurate pistol. What can you say about a pistol that is grand.
Ruger revolver, accurate and I really like how it shoots. My father gave my brother some old Melvin Tyler grips that look like aged ivory but they just don't work well on his revolver as the revolver was twisting in hand with .357 mag loads. With .38 spcl it was no big deal. Brother might be giving the grips back to my dad so he can shoot them on hs Ruger which did not have the twist problem.
Remington 700 in .30-06 Spr. The rifle was purchased from a friend of mine for a good price. The rifle has taken several deer and a ram through the years. My buddy wanted a supressor and SBR a rifle so he let this rifle go. The rifle is a late 60's or early 70's made so I detail stripped/cleaned it, adjusted the trigger, retorqued the screws to factory specs, and installed a new Redfield Revolution 4-12x scope. It took me a total of 8 rds to sight the rifle in at the range today and my brother was hitting red center the rest of the time. Got to love a good Remy and the '06 caliber.
Now mine
The Glock 23 is a little snappier than the G22 but will carry a bit easier. I got this pistol, a bunch of ammo, a Milt Sparks holster, etc and some cash for my Marlin Guide Gun. Yes, the Guide Gun is gone but I can get another later if I so choose.
The SAI SOCOM. Well, I had a SOCOM a while back and liked it but traded it off because I did not want to spend a lot of money to get it where I want. Well, I fired 20 rds of ammo on target today and the rds were all over the place. Part of it is due to the large front and open hole rear site. I am not sure where to start, but it will be a project gun. Went to put on my Aimpoint M2 but the SAI mt is not Picitany rail so my LaRue mount will not work. Oh well, it functioned and fired really well, and if it were a pig, dear, zombie, alien, or anything else it would be in a world of hurt.

Sorry for the long ramble but fun is fun!

Stevo and I was talking the other day about hawks and throwing. I have never been any good, but really want to try again. I know it is about timing and such but man, hitting a tree broad side is not getting the job done.

had some good archery time with some friends today. everyone shot respectably with my reflex deflex longbow, while the compound bow someone else brought got mostly complaints.

That's a good color combo, K.

Looks nice on the CG model.

Sumo, sounds like you had a "blast"! I've always wanted one of those SOCOMs. While I don't really like the .308 for hunting (I like really fast rounds), I do think it's a great cartridge. I ended up with a Rock River LAR-8 (I know, Architect, it's a hobby grade firearm). Since I have a R-25 in .243 win, I've never shot the LAR-8. And based on some of what I've read here, I may trade it for a real .308. I should be able to get a fairly straight across trade for a good one.

My son (6) is really getting interested in archery. He practiced in the back yard for about 45 minutes today. I'm looking for youth bows now.
