I am a gold member (that means I sent them money) of another forum. That other forum is a leading forum for knife users. I will never post on that forum again. The absolute rudeness and elitism that pervades that forum is sickening. A decent man who works for a knife and tool company was seeking honest feedback from users of his products. He received nothing but scorn and ridicule. We all love SYKCO knives on this forum. We eagerly await each new offering, like hungry dogs. In between offerings we talk about everything from cheap collector fantasy knives to zombies, but we do it with humor and mutual respect. I have never seen a post here that intentionally insulted another poster. This is the best knife forum going. After today, don't look for any HD posts on BF.

I understand if you do not wish to. I was just wondering who and what company was ridiculed on BF.

I saw some people say some pretty bad things about SOG knives over there. I don't know why because I own and like SOG Knives, sure they are not perfect but who is.

I could give you many examples, jdtj, but the latest was with a designer from Condor. He was so trashed, he removed his post. If you have spent any time over there, I am sure you can recite several others in the knife making business who have been maligned.

I'd love to engage you in this conversation, Vic. But discretion is the better part of valor. So I'm afraid I'm going to have to recuse myself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This is my last post on the subject.

That is awful! Just because someone does not like a product they should not constantly post and trash the designer or manufacturer or be rude and disrespectful. I know what you mean I have seen it over there too.

I lurk on that forum quite a bit. However, I only really look at one or two specific areas of that forum, the wilderness survival, and the trading forum. I look at the wilderness survival forum because I have an interest in bushcraft and the like. And I look at the trade forum because it's nice to see how much my knives are going for. Although I haven't sold a single one yet.
There is quite a bit of eliteism in the wilderness survival section. I get tired of the posters making fun of "Man vs. Wild", or "Survivorman." Yes, I find faults with both shows, and sometimes I think a lot of what they do is absurd. But I'm also smart enough to know that it is first and formost entertainment. Oddly enough I do learn something each time I watch those shows as well. So for me it's entertaining and informative at the same time. However, I do get tired of hearing Les tied his shoes this way when he should have used this knot etc....
As a rule of thumb I tend to avoid places that seek my hard earned dollars in order to contribute and/or have your typical rank and file elitist mentality. Case in point a certain forum that deal with the civilian versions of the M-16 rifle. I don't understand why I have to pay for a search feature to look up post that someone else took the time to respond to. It would be one thing if the owners of said site were providing the information, but it's not it's the users.
While the other knife forum doesn't demand my money for contributing. They do have their share of elitism. However, on the flip side of the coin I do learn something from time to time when browsing.
When it comes to posting and putting yourself out there I do get tired of the internet crap. That's probably one reason why I like it here. There isn't the typical crap that you put up with at other forums. So far I haven't been called a moron, idiot, knumskull, or anything derogiatory because I don't necessarily share one's view on this or that. In short it's a pretty mature mature and sophisticated audience here, even if we don't tackly some pretty dumb subjects like diceman's poo.
