Canada hasn't been hit near as bad as the rest of the world, in fact our interest rates just rose.
This increase in interest rates and the new tax may really hurt home owners here in BC

Saw today that since the $8,000 tax credit for homebuyers expired, home sales dropped 33% last month. Not good at all.

Our new HST will combine the federal gst (vat tax) and our provincial sales tax, but for many items we used to only pay the 5% gst and not the 7% pst. On all of the gst items we will soon pay 12% hst an increase of 7% for many items

Yeah, everyone decided that 8 grand is too much. My problem with the bailout is How can you Make value that isn't there appear by just giving people money? paper is paper, we don't have the precious metals to back up all the money that we're throwing around trying to stimulate a recession. Giving people the illusion that they have money is a good way to dig us further into debt.

I don't claim to know a lot about the economy, but if I wrote checks that I didn't have money to back up, I would go to jail and someone would take away my checkbook eventually. I'm just sayin....
