Afternoon snowballz, how are you?
I've heard of Tac Ops, I believe the guy who runs the Sniper Central Webpage has a couple, says he loves them. Haven't had a chance to shoot them yet, and to me the proof is in the pudding, if a retired US Army sniper keeps them around, they're good stuff. Ran a couple .338s out of a Surgeon rifle once, and shot more than a few match .308 loads from my friends Skunk, and they've definitely sold me on those platforms.

you need to check out Tac-Ops rifles.
you wont believe it. Very aware of Mike @ TacOps. The biggest thing I wanted was a custom action, and TacOps doesn't offer that (as a standard). They blueprint / true the Rem700 actions. One bonus to the Skunk is that they're using Defiance Machine for production. It's top notch (also used by GAP), and they enable you to accept AW Mags (double stack, giving you 10 rounds in a shorter package than AI Mags).

I can't say I have looked through that particular Model, I see your point. IMHO, a 40mm is about the largest I'd need for a .308, but I do most of my hunting/shooting later in the day too, and more light gathering abilities translates to better shooting for me. What did you plan on using your new Skunk for? Optic choice definitely depends on the mission parameters.

I'm assuming you're chambering it in .308

Yeah, I did go .308...just to stay with my preference. Next will be a .260 (but will be awhile).
Running / gunning Pig gun....Truck gun....General Hunting....tack-driver (up to 800yds on paper).
If you ever get the chance to look through a NF 24obj late in the day / early morning...do it! They're insane (for the size)...and in such a tight small package!! The new 32's are fantastic too (had one on a 22 build I did)...but I still can't believe they discontinued the 24's....such a shame.

It sounds like the smaller scope would be the best then, definitely made the right choice. as a sportsman, I wouldn't consider a shot on a game animal at 500 yds, even if I thought I could make the hit, just because the room for error is too great, and if I slip, that animal may end up bleeding to death somewhere in the woods, instead of a quick humane kill. Besides, no animal other than a man can kill me from several hundred yards away, lol.

Well, I have to shower and run down to Home Depot, have to pick up some sandpaper. I'm repainting my M14, going to hit her with a lot more Tan, and less green. I may even just hit it with just a spray of FDE, and camo it after I pick up my Battlerail for it. I finally coaxed the bolt that sheared off in the reciever hole out, and now I can start looking at other scope rail options.
Anyone have any experience with Millett Optics?
Alright fellas, catch you later on

mueller is a good option for the budget conscious, supposed to be very good for the $
Tac-Ops are guaranteed to be .25 moa , and let me tell you, that comes from barrels ranging from all sizes (i think the shortest ive seen was 16 or 18 inches)

My Favorite .22 is the Izhmash Biathlon Basic. Crappy wood...but I could care less. Bed it and throw some camo on it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> The actions are super smooth...and the rifles are extremely accurate. Plus...the cool factor of a toggle bolt, hehe. ![[Linked Image from i99.photobucket.com]](http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l287/Izhmash/IMG_0334.jpg) Sent in the scope after I painted it to have Leupy drop in some M-1 turrets. ![[Linked Image from i99.photobucket.com]](http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l287/Izhmash/Izhmash_EFR_M-1_2.jpg)

There's a band I really like you may like to hear, Ishi. They're called Kamelot. The band is amazingly talented, the ONLY complaint I have is thier frontman kind of abuses his vocal tremolo... I enjoy the underlying music so much though, and they orchestrations are excellent too, that I couldn't dismiss them because of thier frontmans voice. Totally clear vocals too, since he's actually singing. Oldest daughter likes Kamelot

Decided then I would never do it again. I rarely get the chance to practice beyond 300 yards anyways
