close by, it scares the heck out of me. My boss from the farm got hit by lightning while we were putting up hay. He was in the barn but near the door and it got him. He lived but spent a few days in the hospital

I have a friend who got a shock from a lightning bolt that struck near him. I told him he better stay inside if he's ever around another storm, he's something like 10x more likely to get hit again.

WOW! Once when I was about 9 or 10 my folks had gotten me a small portable TV for Christmas, for my bedroom. Well that next summer it was storming one night, and a bolt of lightening came down throught the house an struck the TV. ALL the damage it did was fuse the on off switch to on! Don't know if lightening can come down through a house like that and hit something, but I saw the brightest light and heard the loudest pop I have ever experienced in my life.

My wife is TERRIFIED of storms. As a kid, her grandparents would MAKAE everyone get in the storm celler if they even got a hint of a storm in the area. I think that's why she is so scared of them. Now me, No big deal MOST OF THE TIME.
