My next non-Bussekin will be a HEST, that's how much I think of them. I handled one at Blade, but they wouldn't sell it. It was their only one left, sold their whole show's worth on Friday!

GOLLLLLLY Sgt Carter, I didn't know it was THIS late. Patty and I both have Doctors appointments in the morning. Time to call it a night (or morning considering it's after midnight here)
SO, once again, Y'all have a nice day now, ya hear!

rth, are you saying the hest the same overall size as the rat-3,or really close? Fairly close overall size. The HEST is a thicker blade, and you can take the scales off and carry it bare also. It feels really good in my hand, the extra little bit of heft makes it feel much more substantial without being a bigger knife. I can get a rc3 for $86 or the Hess for $120, my gift card is for $100 so either is a go. Which would you choose and why

id go with the hest because it is a bit thicker, has extra features like the pry bar, wire cuttter, and bottle opener. plus you can pop off the handles and put something inside (emergency $ maybe?idk)
i like the heft of a thicker blade personally.

if you dont have an interest in the heft or other features, id say go with whichever feels more comfortable in hand.

not sure if i need the heft, my favorite bushcraft knife is only about 1/8 inch thick. I am looking for a weekend edc, so I will probably see which feels better in the hand
