Yeah, always nice to carry a decent insurance policy. Can't carry a handgun so to me this is the best option.

I carry a pistol pretty much everwhere I go, but when it comes to bears, even our black bears, I would want something more substantial. 12 gauge loaded with slugs comes to mind

The 45/70 would be good too, but it would be a one-trick pony here. At least you can hunt moose there too, and your deer are decent sized as well.

I would love to carry a S&W 500 instead of the guide gun. Lighter and smaller.

Yup, our main big game animals up here are moose and cariboo. They started a draw for elk and mule deer as well now.

it would be used mostly for punching paper but also for use in the woods when we go up to NC.
small game, soda cans that sorta thing.
