I have a theory on this mistery. The numbers are a way to keep track of the zombies who work the assembly line. Mine was inspected by zombie number 13. Thats why it's so secretive. They want to keep the zombie's rights groups out of there.

just a theory.

Smart money's on Ohio, swizzle. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> And yes, where the made isn't nearly as important as THAT they're made! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Never forget that I get everything, but the Post Office boxes, from the dumpster. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Dan

I can see it now:

Patti: Dan! The new shipment is here, where do you want them to put it?
Dan: Tell them to dump it into dumpsters 47 through 65! I'll take it from there.

I love technicalities... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I still like our scenario with Jerry cooking up some breakfast and looking out his front window, and Dan goes running by wearing a ski mask with a garbage bag full of Basic handles <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm going to pretend like I never read this tread and stick with that mental picture of how SYKCo operates!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I like the idea as well of the DM being "battle proven" on the back wall of Jerry's shop... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I can just seem Jerry waking up and wondering if the JWB made him do it... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

"Over the past 20 years he has longed to return to his first love of making knives. And for nearly 25 years, scrap piles of unused steel and handle material have been building up in the Busse knife shop. Dan is a firm believer in the “waste not, want not” school of thought and it is this belief and desire that has coursed him back into what is now known as The Scrap Yard Knife Company. Through months of ”dumpster diving” and warehouse digging at the Busse Knife compound, Dan and I have secured literally tons of the finest tool steels available and other supplies that will allow us to bring a line of high performance American made blades to the market place at very affordable prices.

Enjoy your visit to our website and we look forward to assisting you in your quest for the ultimate knife."

Patti Busse

I'll take her at her word. I think Dan makes the knives from stuff he scrounged up at the Busse Knife compound. I would think that they are made in Spring, Texas. But Dan was not known for making "pretty" knives. He concentrated on functional knives. Maybe the LEs are polished up at Busse Knives?

Seems like we have a dog in the yard from Spring, Texas. He needs to do some recon for us!

That's a reasonable supposition, Vic. But I think it's more logical to assume that Jerry left "literally tons of the finest tool steels available and other supplies" right where they were, creates products out of them in his existing manufacturing facilities in Wauseon, Ohio, and markets those products through Dan & Patti in Spring, Texas.

Again, I could be completely mistaken. But it costs a lot of money to create a new manufacturing facility, especially when it may not be needed. And then there's the smoking gun . . . the Inspector Numbers. So until it's proven otherwise, I'm sticking with Wauseon as the probable birthing place of Scrap Yard knives.

I was happily drinking a beer until I saw this thread,
bld522, that is very plausible, but I, like diceman prefer to pass out now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> & snore loudly on the keyboard and wake up tomorrow morning not remembering this thread. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
No matter where the knives are made, I'll keep buying them!
You ROCK, Dan! Keep them coming! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

That is right. It doesn't really matter at all.
