Wow, we're not quite that big. 511 square miles here, about 2/3 populated.

I don't have the patience to be a dispatcher. I occasionally sit in dispatch just to be a liason and they get some odd calls and then we get cranky about getting dispatched to those same odd calls.

The other 1/3 is a national forest that is pretty much a dead zone.

I'm always cranky LOL. I get so tired of hearing the same people call every night to see if they have any warrants on them. I want to tell them that if they would straighten up, they wouldn't live that kind of life. I would hate to live every day worrying about going to jail because I didn't know if I had a warrant out for my arrest.

Bt national standards we are a huge agency. But ti doesn't feel that way at times. I like being able to run from farmland to, mountains to an urban/suburan area in a single shift. It keeps you on your toes.

Mingo NWR is in the county (at least part of it) but I don't know how much of it is. It's wilderness/swamp area and can't be patroled.

LOL, we won't tell them over the phone. They can come in and ask or have a deputy come see them. I always wanted to park in the seedier part with a sign that said "free warrant checks" just to see how many arrests I could get.

MB, you'd probably get more than folks would think! Yeah we neither confirm nor deny warrants over the phone. Come in or ask a deputy.

Usually we don't have a lot of spare time. Especially in the warmer months. My team took 1,900 calls for service in May. I am waiting to get the stats for june because I know we took a ton more.

I wish our policy would change about the warrant checks, but as of now it's tell them so they can turn themselves in if they want to. Some do, most go into hiding.
