I think Alaska or the Canadian wilderness may be the last places you can go where you can count on being alone, but it seems you have a few that are mighty close.

Saw the paintjob on the DeReg. Looks great. ECF and I are lucky. We are surrounded by over 1.3 million acres of National Forest. I have been really lucking in knowing the more remote spots and being able to get there.

What I'd give to be in your shoes. If you can find a 100-acre plot around here it's considered remote in the middle of it. This area has really grown up over the past 10-15 years.

I know my wife will never do it, but if I'm able I'd like to retire to Montana or Wyoming. She's a beach, warm weather person, and I'm exactly the opposite.

I do have to go quite a ways off the beaten path to find a place that's really quiet. There are a few spots I can get to in my jeep that no one will bother you for a day or two, maybe a random hiker wanders through, but to get to the really awesome places, like this rock face seen centered in this Pano I took ![[Linked Image from i22.photobucket.com]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b328/theblackened14/Scrapyard%20Pics/Scenery/DSCF0069.jpg) require a TON of hiking, but around the back side of that face is a way up to the top, makes an amazing getaway spot. Windswept, but incredible view of the valley below.

Plenty of places to be alone you just have to go as far as you can in a rig and then hike, bike or paddle until you are alone.

I'd love to live in Montana just for the hunting and fishing, the scenery would be a bonus.

I hear Montanans have a fierce independant streak, they even threatened to recede from the union if thier 2nd Amendmant rights were threatened, since that would violate the pact by which they entered the union. Sounds like a great place to live!

My wife has always been a warm weather fan. I think she tolerates my choices because I always seem to find a breathtaking view or some intersting critters. She has even taken an interest in bushcraft recently. In fact I gave her my RMD to use. She is learning.

Here, all the lakes are owned by Duke Energy. All the islands and all shoreline that isn't privately owned is controlled by them. No camping, no campfires, matter of fact if you don't have land on the lake or a boat, the only way to use the lake is a 100' swimming area in the State Park. You can imagine how crowded that gets in the summertime

I'm sure there's a lake that you could find somewhere in Montana that's plenty warm in the middle of summer rth. AND, you could both be happy, all you'd have to do to cool off is gain a few thousand feet in altitude!
