JJ, I am not sure if you are talking about my post or not, If you are, then I am sorry if I gave you the impression I was dissing you or anything you said. I was just trying to indicate that Dan's Guarantee is THE BEST THERE IS and you don't need to worry about abusing it. WE ALL abuse our SY blades, and they always come back laughing at us while they're saying "that ain't no abuse" for me!

It'll just be chalked up to ill-communication on my part.
Thanks all for the suggestions on sheath makers and links. I think I am going to wait till I get this thing in my hands before I start buying extras for it. The sheath may work with some reinforcements like Skunk Hunter said.
I don't doubt this thing will hold up as it is 1/3" thick. I have a camping axe that is thinner. But will this thing hold an edge ... I have had good experiences with SR101 in the past, so I am cautiously optimistic.
Again thanks for the help, All.

come on Pb, get to typing, I've only got about an hour and a half to go before I get off. We gotta get you out of the 1900's and into the present century!

JJ, you shouldn't have any edge retention problems. I read all the "I cut down 85 redwoood trees with thing and it still shaved hair"! Hehe, well it may not hold an edge for THAT long, but I cut about a 6 inch thick limb that was a good 1 feet long with a lot of branches off it anywhere from 3 to 1/2 inches thick and it still had a VERY good edge on it when I was done. All in all I probably chopped for about 20 minutes with it. Granted this was an old redbud tree, but this is the first knive I have done that much cutting with and had it remain that sharp afterward, Stainless steel OR carbon!

Again thanks for the help, All. no harm, no foul. skunk's one of the best guys here. and have no fear about the edge, the knife and the steel are both proven designs. these busse guys are good at what they do

Oh yeah, sorry for the Scrap Yard Lobo confusion. It is from the book "World War Z." The Marines in the book developed a shovel/axe hybrid tool they called the "Lobo," as in "Lobotomizer." As for the Scrap Yard part, that was just wishful thinking.
