SH - Yeah, she did all her schooling using a Nikon and developed an attachment to them. After handling a D70 that belongs to a friend I have to say that the Nikon dSLR cameras do feel more substantial and well build when compared to the Canons in the same category.

I'm happy as we saved enough on the purchase to justify my 70-300mm VR telephoto lens. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

From what I have seen, the Nikons do seem to take a slightly nicer picture as well. Just seems crisper to me when I compare them to the rebel's shots. I know photo clarity is a brutally complex subject, but the old Mk I eyeball is happier with the Nikon output.

The other reporter I am with got a kick out of them too. He saw the barn pic forst and said, "I had a feeling they would put our museum in a &%$#&%$ barn." I had to show him the real museum pic to get him to stop complaining. It would be fitting though. Most of the time we work in some pretty poor conditions. There's something earthy about typing out a story or editing photos while sitting on a sandbag though.

Yup, Chris, they are almost to close to tell a difference. But yes the Nikon does seem to have a slightly better something to them and they are heavier If I remember correctly. Oh and the 70-300 is a nice lense size. Patty has one for her Canon and it's her primary lense.

Strange as it sounds, I was in Japan Before I realized that this was the birthplace of the paper. That was after being in for 15 years! Go figure.
