Ok, then at some time, some way, you need to get a Scrapyard S5. 5 inch range blade, not as thick as the Regs but one GOOD using knive. Actually it would probably prove to be more useful to you than the Reg in the long run. If you're interested in a blade of the 5 inch range, check it out. But you will have to get it on the secondary market of from a Dog here that has spares. Or check out this link. Oh and the S6 (scrapper 6) is another good blade as is the ever popular Dumpster Mutt. http://naylorinternational.com/forum/

Oh, the S6 and Dumpster mutt are I believe both in the 6 inch blade length range. Oh and just as a side note, If I start typing in all caps, don't think anything about it. Here at work, our radio logs are typed in all capital letters and I sometimes forget to go back and take it off caps lock before I start typing. Oh and my splin aint too goud neither!

Cool link, but I am not willing to pay the secondary market prices. I have paid top dollar for a knife before only to have it fail on me. I understand these knives don't have a history of failing. I still don't want to pay a mark up because I wasn't there to get the knife when it came out.
That said, the S5 looks awesome. A little longer and thicker and I might be willing to pay a premium. I actually offered to wave my military discount and pay extra to get a Regulator with that handle. Futile attempt.
I think the Reg. will work just fine. I really like the idea of such a thick knife. Good steel with that kind of thickness should take a boot camp style beating and laugh it off. We'll see.
I doubt I will ever be buying a second-hand knife unless it is cheaper than a new one. I don't care if it is mint. I am not a big supporter of people trying to make a buck off of someone else's hard work. I see that is a common thing in this community and I am not knocking it. Far be it for me to tell others how to live.
I would like a smaller one though, like the Street Scrapper 4 (I think I go the name right). It would be a great camping utensil. I have Skeletool CX that is my everyday carry, so until that dies, all I need are these specific knives for specific uses.

JJ, you WOULD pay a premium for an SS4. Actually the DOGS that advertise on the link I sent you aren't known for scalping. Most of the time they just make a couple dollars over cost plus the cost of their shipping.
Well here's the boss, see ya later. BE SAFE! and Thanks for your service.

I see. I took a look at the link and saw a couple reasonable deals there.
No need to thank me for my service. I am honored to do it, seriously.

Well, just check my account and I have already been charged for it. It's my understanding that they only charge once they ship. So this could be a good sign. They charged me yesterday and I ordered the day before.
It looks like Dan Busse and company support their troops, since everything I have read leads me to believe there is normally a healthy wait for these knives. I wonder if he'll pick up my next bar tab? JJ - I can tell you for a FACT that the Busse family really does support our troops! If you were charged, then your knife should be on its way. SkunkHunter (Randy) was right about contacting Renee; deploying troops have done so in the past, and she is GREAT to work deal with!

That is good to hear they are willing to deal with troops, but it looks like they are sending it soon if they haven't already. Also, I am not sure when I will deploy again. As a reporter, I never know when I will leave. If something comes up, I could be on a plane back to the desert this weekend. Last time I was back in Germany for two weeks before they called me and told me to head back to the giant beach without an ocean. I have been back for about a month this time and have my ILBE packed and ready sitting by the door just in case. So, I would feel bad asking them to hurry up or do anything extra for me if I don't know when I'll be leaving. I was just curious.

Apparently I was sleeping when I read my email yesterday. I did get the shipping confirmation the day after I placed the order.
Thanks for all the info anyway, gentlemen.

SS4 is an amazing knife! Well worth a little mark up, I lucked into a great deal on mine, but most ( on the rare occasion they pop up) go for 250-300
