Me and a buddy have a biking-camping trip into the Black Forest next weekend. So, hopefully military mail gets the knife to me by then and I can test this thing out. My friend just got an ESEE Junglas and wants to have a chop off.

Things are going well. Was a beautiful day here, sunny and warm. I think we hit 78 degrees!
Put another hundred miles on the bike just wandering around. Lots of road construction with deep loose gravel.

Yes I did get the sheath, but have also ordered a kydex custom one from Martin Swinkel. I just don't trust cordura fabric to keep the knife inert in extreme conditions.

I understand what you are saying. Are you getting martin to make you a leather over kydex sheath or just kydex?

Well, soldered a small electronics kit together tonight. Useless item that I just used to practice the soldering skills. Worked when I was done so that is good! Actually came back pretty quick so I am happy.

I was tempted to get the leather over kydex, but it would be out of place with all my other gear, except the leather belt I wear down range that I use for stropping.
I gave him pretty specific guidance too. I requested a kydex sheath with eyelets on both sides of the blade so I can secure and keep it from flapping around should I lash it to something besides my MOLLE loops. Obviously I also asked for MOLLE compatibility both on the belt loop and the lowest part of the sheath back; a pocket to fit two DMT Mini-Sharps. Too go with the "snap-in" top of the kydex, I also ask for a strap with a button holding it in crossing from left to right so I can quickly deploy the knife with a flick of my right hand thumb.
